Message from the Provost's Office
The changes taking place in Nigeria and in Africa at large these days are breath taking. The growth of the African Church continues to attract worldwide acclaim. That is why the need for institutions like WEST AFRICA THEOLOGICAL SEMINARY is greater than ever.
WATS continues to experience dynamic growth. This prospectus demonstrates how far we have already come and lays out our anticipations for the next three years. As you read through it, I pray that God will direct you personally about your relationship with us. As our mission statement proclaims, we are still out to “train men and women for holy living, for carrying the Gospel to the unreached, and for catalyzing national spiritual awakening.” If that resonates with your own aspirations I urge you to contact us today.
This prospectus contains information about the first two WATS Masters programs: the MDiv and the MA in Biblical Studies, as well as the MA in Christian Leadership (for Episcopal-level leadership only) and the MA in Intercultural Studies (which took off in 2005). With the launching of these programs, we have entered a new and exciting phase of our ministry, and we believe we are doing it in a very academically responsible way.
More than ever we affirm our desire to combine excellent academics with a strong and foundational focus on spiritual formation. If you want to prepare to serve God better and are willing to pay the price to become equipped academically to understand the scriptures and rightly divide them for others, then WATS may be where you should come. If you want to do that while developing and cultivating a deeper walk with God, WATS will help make it possible.
May God bless you as you prayerfully consider studies at WATS. As always, I remain
Yours for the African harvest,
Rev. David Njoku
Deputy Provost
